GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - The Cape Town Weather Office has issued the following weather warnings:
1) Level 1 – Damaging winds
2) Level 3 – Disruptive rain
Period valid: 5 to 6 May 2021
Level 1 warning for damaging waves resulting in difficulty navigating at sea and small vessels at risk of capsizing between Lambert's Bay to Plettenberg Bay from Wednesday 5 May into Thursday 6 May.
A number of crocodiles have escaped from a commercial farm near Bonnievale in the Western Cape on Wednesday 3 March, with authorities and environmental departments hard at work to recapture them.
The crocodiles managed to break free from their holding camps in the morning, and despite some 25 crocs having been recovered and safely returned to the farm, various law enforcement agencies will continue to patrol parts of the Breederiver near the farm to ensure that the “unknown number” of escaped animals are also rounded up.

A great find! The Garden Route Botanical Garden has a nursery that also sells to the public. Their prices are ridiculously low.
They are open from Monday to Thursday from 8.30 - 4.30 pm. Fridays only in the mornings. The Tea Garden serves yummie eats and has a lovely safe play area for the little ones.

THE price of tomatoes and potatoes, which have already doubled this winter, could rise further in the coming months due to the impact of severe weather on crops, farmers’ union TAU SA said yesterday.
Limpopo had already experienced two cold fronts which caused a 100% income loss on tomatoes and a 50% income loss on potatoes, the union’s northern chairman Jan Viljoen said.

Johannesburg – It will take another 10 days to repair the damaged parts of the Seacom data cable, lying nearly 5km deep off Africa's east coast.
The weather, the depth of the fault and the parts needed are all delaying the repair process, said Seacom. July 22 was the earliest date by which repairs could be completed.
The undersea cable has been out of operation since Monday July 5, and has been disrupting international internet operations.
