OUR MISSION STATEMENT

“The St. Francis United Church is a joyful, caring community
of Christians who unite to worship God, seeking to follow Him
more closely as we reach out in His Name to all in the Word and deed”.

St. Francis United Church is a member of the Church Unity Commission of South African - the body which unites the Anglican, Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian Churches in South Africa. We therefore represent each of those denominations in Sedgefield. Members of any of these denominations are automatically welcomed into membership of St. Francis and remain members of their denomination. However many of our members are from other denominations than those represented by the CUC. Through worshipping with us they have found a place where they are both blessed and have opportunity to be a blessing within the community.

Each year Sedgefield welcomes many visitors from all over the country to celebrate with us our ‘SLOW FESTIVAL’.
It is a time where folk can get away from busy city life, relax and enjoy living ‘in the moment’ in this very beautiful part of
God’s amazing creation.

This year several of our Churches have combined to give residents and visitors an opportunity to
FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE CROSS.
We have created our own 'via dolorosa' taking place from 2 – 5 April.
Thursday 14h00-18h00; Good Friday 16h00-18h00; Saturday 9h00-17h00
It will take the form of a mini pilgrimage where, at your own pace, you may visit each of the Churches for a time of quiet contemplation.

Each Church will display one particular aspect of Christ’s Journey to the Cross and welcome you to sit a while and meditate on it.
This whole pilgrimage can be done in about 3 hours or you may wish to do a couple of stations each day as suits you.

Maps and booklets will be available from the Information Bureau in town and transport will be available at the various Church
for the less able ‘pilgrims’.

We hope you will join us and be blessed this Easter tide and that as you return home you will have been refreshed both physically and spiritually as you meet the challenges of life
once again.

Entrance is FREE but there will be a collection in aid of:
